From the sky, the sound of the dambaru drum
(a small hand held drum used by Lord Shiva) resounds.

Who is that Rudra
(the deity that makes people cry)
that has come today?

His long and matted hair tufts have opened up.
He has dressed Himself for performing the ta’nd’ava dance.

Bisa’n’a (the long horn used by Lord Shiva)
is blowing with frightening sound.
Engrossed in which thought, is Pina’kii
(Lord Shiva, holder of the bow shaped instrument) dancing?

He goes on waking all
with the speed of lightening,
striking thunders on the peaks (longitude)
of mountains.

O Lord Shiva, pause a while,
distribute Your divinity to all.
Whatever You want, we shall give,
please accept it.

O tranquil Lord Shiva, king of three worlds,
O holder of Ganga’, O king of dances!
